PRESENTATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF DJEBONOUA

GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE MUNICIPALITY

The Sub-Prefecture of Djébonoua was created in 1985 from the break-up of the former Bouaké district, and was made a Commune by decree no. 95-941 of 13 December 1995 creating new communes.

After the municipal elections of 1996, the management team of the brand new commune of Djébonoua was installed with Mr KONAN N’dri Albert at its head.

The second municipal team of 25 March 2001, made up of 26 members, 23% of whom were women, was led by Mrs KONAN-BROU Amoin Annabelle, the mayor of the commune, assisted by 3 deputies:

The combined municipal/regional council elections of 24 April 2013 resulted in the renewal of this team. The 29-member team is led by Mr TAIGUAIN Koffi Edmond, mayor of the commune, assisted by 3 deputies:

Mr KONAN N’guessan, 1st Deputy

Mr KOUAME Christophe Kouassi, 2nd Deputy Mayor

Mrs ADJE Tanoua Marie, 3rd Deputy

The Municipality’s main concern is to make this modest commune a modern, model city. The commune’s current situation, its potential, its customs and traditions, and its proud heritage are all assets in achieving this legitimate ambition.

Djébonoua is located 19 km from the town of Bouaké and around 80 km from the political capital Yamoussoukro, on the A3 trunk road linking the two towns and 310 km from Abidjan, the economic capital. The Djébonoua district is part of the Bouaké department in the Gbêkê region. Djébonoua is the capital of a sub-prefecture and a commune.

The municipality of Djébonoua is bordered to the north by the Commune of Bouaké, to the south by the Department of Tiébissou, to the east by the Department of Didiévi and the Sub-prefecture of Tié-N’diékro and to the west by the Department of Sakassou.

Because of its location, the Commune of Djébonoua is the gateway to the Gbêkê Region.
